“Better Flavor” Tips

you may find these appliance tips helpful.

• If your oven hasn’t been used in a while, consider a pre-test of longer oven baking times by making a nice roast, or other low-and-slow oven-baked recipe, long before cooking a big holiday meal for family, friends and guests.

  Also, don't chemically clean the oven just before holiday baking. Chemical oven cleaners are effective, but burning off their residue during heavy holiday cooking may affect food flavor and safety.

• Freshen up ice makers ahead of time for your guests. Ice sitting in storage bins can absorb food odors and affect beverage flavors. Empty and gently clean ice storage bins. Store fresh and clean extra ice in plastic bags ahead of time for events or parties.
